Why gas shocks for doors?
Gas shocks for doors are an ideal solution for keeping them open when open and closed when closed. However, our normal gas springs are not suitable for horizontal installation. The seal of the gas spring is then not properly lubricated, as a result of which the seal can wear out in a short time and gas can leak. The gas spring will then lose its pressure. Our gas springs must therefore be installed (at rest) with the piston rod downwards. The housing contains a little oil that lubricates the seal. In addition, that oil also ensures that the gas spring has a little end damping. The end damping only works when the oil has settled to the side of the piston rod.
Our gas shocks for doors are therefore ideally suited for doors that open vertically. Think, for example, of shutters in a stairwell or to a cellar. A slightly different application of a ‘door’, but certainly important to include in your consideration.
